Analytics Features

The Analytics’ page is home to all graphs, charts and dashboards - and where we come to visualise our datasets. When beginning an analysis, you can choose from pre-built templates, or build your own in the custom analysis. Each analysis type will be best suited to a certain type of dataset, as well as what we are looking to analyse for.

Begin by selecting new analysis, which will take you to the list of template dashboards to choose from. Select the template analysis that you wish to perform (note that there are different set-ups for each analysis type which are detailed further below).

Time series Analysis - This analysis type is best suited to datasets where the data for analysis is dynamic and fluctuates over time. By using a time series analysis, we can measure these fluctuations in the data of interest over a defined period of time. This is commonly used for cases of marketing or sales analysis.

Forecast Analysis  - A form of predictive analysis that produces a statistically likely hypothesis of future data, formed from the basis of historical data. All forecast analyses will produce a prediction with an upper and lower value, with the true prediction lying in between the two. Note that is important to always be weary of where historical data ends and predictive data begins.

Describe Dataset -

KPI Dashboard - This dashboard will provide the ability to compare a time series dataset with a metre, the value of which corresponds to a certain goal or KPI that you are looking to measure against. We can select the value and aggregation type in the gear cog of the metre’s section.

Category Analysis - This type of analysis is used to breakdown

Outlier Analysis - Outlier analysis uses a scatter graph to plot two variables for the purpose of identifying values that are outliers or grouped. This analysis is mainly used to analyse the relationship between two variables.

Geo Analysis - If your dataset contains geospatial data such as longitude and latitude values, the geo analysis will plot those coordinates onto a 3D map relating to the location of those values.

Custom Analysis - In custom analysis, we can create our own dashboard with a combination of the above analyses as well as the addition of any text, images and tables. When selecting custom analysis, you will be directed to a blank page where you can make any changes to the sections on which visualisations will be displayed. The gear cog in the top right corner of a section will prompt a menu to format the section according to display ratios, heights and titles.

Each section will also have a popup menu that can be selected in the top right corner of the box. In this popup menu, we can select the dataset that we would like to utilise to generate the visualisation, and filter the categories & values accordingly.
